Nail Regeneration Procedure

Our nail regeneration procedure is designed for people that have partially destroyed or damaged nails. Deformities and damage to the nail can be the result of both fungal and bacterial infections, trauma, surgeries, tumors, warts, eczema, repeated injuries and long lasting subungual hematomas (bleeding under the nail).

Nail regeneration procedure is effective in most cases but in order for it to be successful, there must be a portion of the healthy nail present, even a small portion at the lunula (a crescent shaped portion at the base of the nail). Removal of the damaged tissue is done gradually with small elliptical excisions in order to stimulate unidirectional growth of the nail cells, promoting nail elongation. If necessary, procedure is repeated every 2-3 months until the normal nail growth is achieved.

This procedure is done in a clinical setting under local anesthetic with a minimal down time. Surgical complications with this procedure are not common as long as the post surgical advice is followed and the area is kept clean.
